Sumit Nagal failed to advance in the men’s singles in tennis in the Paris Olympics 2024

The 26-year-old lost 2-6, 6-2, 5-7 to France’s Corentin Moutet on Court 7.

Nagal’s exit means that India have only the doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and S Sriram Balaji from whom they can hope for a medal.

Back in 2021, Nagal qualified for the second round where he lost to Daniil Medvedev.

But this time around, he could not make any impact in the quadrennial event.

Nagal fought hard for two hours and 28 minutes before losing to the Frenchman on Court 7.

Moutet also took his head-to-head count against Nagal to 3-2. Had Nagal won

he would have a chance to face Australian World No.6 Alex de Minaur,

but that would not be the case anymore.

Nagal struggled in the opening set where Moutet dominated him
